Dates for Your Diary: Greetings Cards at the Ready!

We know how it is; you start the year with great intentions, filling up your diary with important dates, before quickly misplacing it and ending up instead relying on Google Calendar. With that in mind, we thought you might need a little recap when it comes to important dates in the next 12 months.

For the Muslim community, Eid al-Fitr – which this year falls on September 24 – is also known as the ‘festival of breaking the fast’. And should you have a friend, relative, colleague or neighbour who observes this festival, why not help them mark the occasion with a beautiful handmade card? Celebrated by Muslims worldwide, the religious holiday is to Muslims what Christmas is to Christians. In the absence of Eid-related cards and gifts, a blank card featuring a pretty floral design and including a heartfelt hand-written note will go some way to helping friends mark the festival.

While it’s not quite as prominent here in the UK, Halloween (October 31) presents a great opportunity to spruce up your home in the otherwise quiet period between autumn and Christmas. Increasingly, decorative household items are becoming the norm in supermarkets here in the UK, with cards popping up in gift shops, too. Why not search for a blank card featurin pretty orange blooms to send during the holiday, or ‘just because’?

Next up, on November 1, Diwali – also known as ‘the festival of lights’ is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn. Spiritually signifying the victory of light over darkness, preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, which means you have plenty of time to drop in a card at a friend or colleague’s.

Across the pond in the US, our American friends celebrate Thanksgiving Day on November 26. Just over a month before Christmas, the holiday also precedes Black Friday, where those in the US queue up outside department stores to bag cut-price deals. If you have friends or relatives in America, pop this date in your Google calendar and get organised early by hand-making a pretty card or buying a gorgeous handmade one. Think cards featuring shades of orange and deep plums, to mark the festival which is celebrated in late autumn.

We doubt you’ll escape the run up to St Valentine’s Day without spotting the card and gift shops’ huge banners reminding you of the holiday. But just in case…it takes place on February 14, which next year falls on a Saturday – ideal if you want to take your loved one for a day out somewhere nice. You won’t have any trouble finding a host of pretty cards online, but if you’d rather opt for something a little different, instead have a go at making your own.

Which occasions do you mark with a gorgeous greetings card? Of course, there’s no reason to wait for these events and these events only; why not surprise someone you care about with a handmade card out of the blue like those sold at Decorque Cards? It’s surprising how such a simple gesture can put a smile on someone’s face.

GUEST POST| Jen's Favourite Tea's

Jen's Favourite Tea's

Hi lovely Class & Glitter readers! I'm Jen from jenniewren3 and I'm here to write a post for Parie about...tea! Being British, tea is stereotypically liked by everybody in Great Britain however that is not the case because (shockingly) some people don't like tea!

I, on the other hand, love it. I can not survive a day without at least one so I thought I'd put together a little post about all my favourite types!

Yorkshire Tea (no picture as I drank it all -sorry!)

This tea is your standard "builders brew". I swapped to Yorkshire tea after I really was not enjoying Typhoo and it was a great choice to swap to! It's such a standard drink but it's a great way to wake up in the morning and a good pick-me-up in the afternoon.

Twinings Earl Gray

Jen's Favourite Tea's

At the moment this is my all time favourite. I used to drink Earl Gray a lot when my mum lived with us as it was always in the house but then we suddenly stopped having it. After having a cup of the Graze Box Afternoon Infusion Tea which has Earl Gray and Assam leaves in it I decided to buy a box of Earl Gray. It's such a refreshing drink to have! A lot of people have it with no milk but I have it just like my standard brew (judge me)! I would strongly suggest only getting Twinings and not the Clippers ones or cheaper makes as the taste is different. Twinings is quite pricey but definitely worth it!

Twinings Peppermint Tea

Jen's Favourite Tea's

Although this tea isn't something I go to at the minute, it definitely was when I was on my "health kick". Peppermint tea is really good for you! I've found that when I have indigestion, a cup of this is really great for your insides.

So, what are your favourite teas? I'd love to know!

Lots of Love

Guest Post|Top Summer Lip Products

Top Summer Lip Products

Hi lovelies, you won't know me yet, or you might; I don't know - but I'm JennieWren3 and I'm guest blogging for Class & Glitter today! I'm going to share with you my top Summer lip products - both high end and drug store.

Top Summer Lip Products

First up is the Topshop lipstick in Petal, which is my most wearable lipstick at the minute. It's a pink nude so if you're somebody like me and you rarely wear nude lipsticks then this is a safe one because it's got a great pink tone to it so it's not too scary! I wear this pretty much everyday at the minute, it gives that bit of oomph to a natural look or it tones down the drama if you're wearing a smokey eye. It's quite a creamy texture but becomes matte over time. It's also pretty affordable - £8!

Next up is the MAC lipstick in Impassioned, which has the amplified finish meaning it's pretty bright! That I can agree with. Impassioned is my go-to Summer bright lipstick, that I usually wear with a nice summery dress or if I'm being pretty dull with my clothing I'll brighten it up with this shade. It's £15. (which kind of annoys me - I remember buying MAC lipsticks for £12 and I thought that was expensive; will they ever stop increasing the prices?!)

Thirdly is the Revlon Matte Balm Crayon in Elusive. I was a little weary of buying this because I'd never really thought much of the crayon lip products but I ended up just picking it up for about £8. I wouldn't recommend this for people with very dry lips (like mine - so why am I recommending it?!) but I would buy it for the minty fragrance it has. It made my lips tingle a little and I find tingling lips something very exciting so obviously this would make my list! The colour is a very natural pink - it's so easy to wear for an everyday look but I wouldn't say it could work that well for an evening look - please correct me if I'm wrong!

Finally, is a little bit of an odd recommendation - it's just a plain old Nivea Pearly Shine Lip Balm. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a lip balm so much! It gives so much moisture to my lips but it's also got a pale pink tint to it and sparkles so it gives off colour as well as looking after your lips - win, win right?

What are your Summer must-have lip products?

Lots of Love

--------------------------------------------------------------
hello fellow readers of class and glitter!

I'm Nicole and i am the writer of the fashion hellos and oh no's! and today i will be helping out my close friend Parie by being her guest blogger. I'm so excited to be writing this entry for Parie's blog i love her blog it gives honest true opinions on beauty products and fashion and it cant get any better than that!.

So today's blog entry is based on..............(drum roll please)...................Beauty.................yay!!!

I love writing about beauty product because it gives you a reason to try out all the latest make up that is out on the high street and today i will be writing about Urban Decay's Oz The Great And Powerful Theodora Palette.
The Urban Decay's Oz The Great And Powerful - Theodora Palette
This pallet represents the evil behind Oz and the people who created this palette really went for it and picked key colours that popped out as being evil!

I have used all these colours and they all turn out really well on the eye I like how I can use the darker shades of brown for the eyebrows and as well as a an eyeliner. All the colours have been given a specific name, the top left is called broken it’s a pale cream shade and is mainly used as a base this colour really helps set the other colours as it gives a clean base to work on and also if you want to go for the natural look this is the colour you want to use.

To the right of broken there is Beware now beware is a orangey brown shade this really blends in well with a darker shade as it helps bring out any eye colour.

The last one on the top row is called Beware this is a purpley brown coloured is probably my favourite one to use as the brown shade stands out well on my eye and if you have small eyes like mine it will do the same with yours

In the bottom right there is one of the duo colours which is called jealous I like using the shade jealous because you can use the lighter shade for your lid and the darker one for your crease and also this kind of a daytime colour because of the lightness so if you want to wear the colour at night use one of the shades of brown and it will give it a bold statement

Next to Jealous there is another duo colour which is called Spell which consists of a gold shimmer shadow and a black with glitter pigments these colours are really easy night out colours because lately most people have started to use dark shimmery colours because it blends in with the night and you will be able to see the colours pop more because they are darker

The last one on the bottom row is called West this is a dark shade of brown and I tend to use this for my brows as it fits my colour and blends in well you can also use it for the crease of your eye and blend it with a lighter shade this will really bring out your eye colour

With the palette you don’t just receive the eye shadows you also get a red supersaturated lip crayon I love this lip crayon because it moisturises your lips and gives them a great colour at the same time.

Plus as well as a lip crayon you also get a black liner crayon. What I like about the liner is it is soft and only needs one layer on and you get the full colour because you find some liners these days are hard and you need to apply them a few times for the full effect of the liner

As well as all the make up you receive a photo of Mila Kunis as Theodora and on the back there is a how to get the Theodora look I have tried to recreate this look and have been successful on the first try the steps are simple to follow and teach you where the colours work best on parts of your eyes.

We have known Parie (through the wonders if the Internet) for a couple months now and we were so excited for the chance to guest blog. Alright, let's get right into our Summer Trends post!

Sophia's Favourite Summer Trends:

1. Coloured Hair! This is something really fun that we have been seeing all the time. Using hair chalking techniques or dye (rinse out or permanent) this is something really fun that basically anyone could try!

I love the colours in her hair!

2. The other summer trend I have been loving is coloured eyeliner! I just think that it is so fun for summer and it just adds something interesting to your look, and we will be posting a tutorial on this soon!

 Top Summer Trends

I really love the way this looks on Cara Delevingne!

Ainsley's Favourite Summer Trends:

3. One of my favourite summer trends has to be super cute hair accessories. I really think that they are a super fun way to add colour to your hair without any commitment. Hair bows are really cute with buns, with the half up half up do, and also a pretty way to keep your bangs out of your face! I also really love floral headbands, they are perfect for more of a bohemian vibe, definitely perfect for a music festival or just hanging out during the summer.

4. My other favourite trend for summer is anything floral printed! With so many different options, your sure to find your perfect floral printed piece!

Try out the floral print trend by wearing a cute dress like this one from Forever 21

We would like to take an oppertunity to thank the lovely Parie for letting us guest blog for her, it was really fun! Thanks for reading, and please check out our blog!  have a great day!
