5 To Try: Primers

''Put simply, primer is exactly what its name implies: It's a preparatory product that's applied after your skin care to create an ideal canvas to hold onto whatever makeup comes after''

Primer works wonders for me and without using one I am lost! Here are 5 to try if you are interested in buying one.

#1 The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer £3.90

I love both silicone and non-silicone based primers and this says it in the name really! The texture of this is very lightweight compared to the others mentioned in this post, it doesn’t have any particular scent either. The primer comes in an easy to use squeezy tube, which is a life saver and for the price you get a great deal of product.
Compared to other silicone primers, this one doesn’t have a powdery feel, it also doesn't give you a matte finish if oil is something that you need to control. It gives the skin quite a fresh/dewy look and leaves it feeling ready for makeup. For me, it almost acts like a primer/moisturiser hybrid and makes my skin feel hydrated and soft.

#2 Urban Decay All Nighter Primer - full size £27, mini £12

The UD Setting Spray is a holy grail for me and when the primer was launched I couldn't wait to try. I've had this small mini for a while now and it is still going - doesn't seem to be running out! This is fabulous if you want your makeup to last, no matter what skin type. It glides on to the skin and really locks everything in place ready for makeup. I tend to stick to using this in my t-zone as this is where makeup just seems to disappear, this is perfect.

#3 Elf Mint Melt £8

My go to, my favourite, my ride or die. I wasn't too sure with this primer due to it being a minty feeling, but I have to say I really like it! If you've tried the Milk Hydro Grip or have always wanted to, this is perfect. It has a cool, minty feeling but nothing powering, it has just the right amount. It's a gel consistency, that comes in a pump tube making it super easy to control how much you use. When you first pump it out, it comes out as a lighter green colour, once you apply it to your skin it goes on clear. It feels extremely sticky at first, then dries within a few seconds and the sticky feeling turns a little tacky. It leaves your face smooth and provides a perfect base for your foundation that stays put all day! I can't get enough.

#4 Becca Backlight Priming Filter

My heart breaks every time I think about Becca as a brand going away later on this year, they have some incredible products and their primer is a cult classic. Even with my really oily skin this primer gives me a glow like no other. My skin doesn't appear shiny or sweaty, its more golden and glowing. I love the fresh and awake filter it gives to my skin and works really well under foundation. I love applying this to my cheeks area and then something more mattifying to the t-zone.

#5 Erborain Pink Perfect Creme

I bought this little tub from Hawaii over three years ago and we're going to have to part ways soon as its nearly empty. It definitely makes me want to try more things from Erborain as this has really impressed me. I love using this on my nose as it hides/blurs all my horrible pores as best as it can, which none of the other primers achieve. I love that its pink but very thick, you only need a small amount and it smears everywhere without any issues.

I love a good primer and without any of these, I would be lost! I love applying them individually but recently pairing them up has been revolutionary. If you love primer, I hope you find a new one to try from this 5 to Try post, if you don't tend to use one - tell me your long lasting makeup secret!!

Worth The Hype - Nivea Post Shave Balm As Primer

Nivea Post Shave Balm As Primer

Beauty trends seem to come and go, from over-lining lips to using eye-shadow as contour. The latest one that seems to have taken the beauty world by storm is using Nivea's Post Shave Balm as a Primer. After seeing and hearing many people talk about this weird trend, I decided to put it to the Is It Worth The Hype Test?

L'Oreal Strikes AGAIN!

My love of L'Oreal just keeps on growing, I am currently swooning for True Match and Infallible and now there is a new foundation in town and I am loving it as well. The newest release from them is their Infallible Matte Foundation and to match a Mattifying Primer, today will be a double trouble review because they are indeed two products that need to be used, in my opinion together.
Infallible Matte Foundation

Packaging
The first thing about this duo is that they are both in squeezy tubes with nozzles as applicators, traditionally foundations from the brand have pumps and are in glass bottles but this is totally new and different to anything I have seen before. The good thing is that at least you can see how much you are using it because of it being clear and you don't have to spend ages shaking around to try and get the last drops out of the pump. The bad thing, it goes everywhere - it is very hard to control the amount of product that comes out and I struggle! You can also see on the back of each one it tells you the texture and the coverage, that is such a good idea but sometimes not such a good one as brands think that their products are better than what they actually are...
Infallible Matte Foundation

Primer
In my eyes this is a silicone texture primer, feels very much like the Benefit Porefressional but is clear rather than coloured. It is also very wet and take a few minutes to sink into the sink, so I leave a gap between applying this and my foundation. I personally think that this primer only works with the L'Oreal primer to keep you matte all day, but that doesn't mean to say it doesn't work well with other foundations, because it does, just not as long lasting and doesn't turn a dewy foundation like True Match into a matte one. After sinking into the skin, my skin feels as smooth as hell - is that really weird??
Infallible Matte Foundation

Foundation
The star of the show and another one to add to my holy grail list, the foundation is everything you expect from L'Oreal and more if you ask me! It has a very thick consistency, which is scary but then again they claim it to be 'full coverage' so it isn't much of a surprise. The beauty of the foundation is that when you blend it into your skin it feels really light weight and as though there isn't anything on your face. In one layer it covers up most of the redness, spots and evens out my skin tone. But to get that heavy coverage which covers everything and anything you definitely need two even layers, don't be put off by the consistency because you actually need the tiniest little bit and it goes a long way. It is meant to be a matte foundation and I fully believe that because as you can see in the pictures nothing is looking dewy, but part of me still has to powder due to not trusting my out of control oil that creeps up during the day.
One thing is for sure that as well as using a primer, you do need to moisturise if your skin is dry - I found that around my nose and my hairline it was clinging to it and looked horrible but the second time after a rather large helping of coca butter it was much better, not perfect but better.

Infallible Matte Foundation

With only the foundation and primer on

I cannot heavily fault this duo that much, because it is all good! If you happen to pop into Boots/Superdrug soon then keep any eye out for it and pick it up to try! The shades are very limited so do make sure you swatch, test and try them all out.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Primer| Review

The Body Shop Tea Tree PrimerThe Body Shop Tea Tree Primer

My new favourite Everyday Primer. When I popped in TBS a few weeks ago I had to pick this up because Insta Blur was out of stock, so this was the next best alternative and boy am I glad I picked it up. As soon as you put it on your fingers you can see that its yellow which is ok because it becomes clear on the skin. When on the face it also tingles but that is fine with me because I know its working well.
This primer is suitable for all skin types as the bottle says which is true as I have combo skin and it works wonder. My skin is also blemished and I have seen a difference in the redness of my spots and breakouts.
If you are in the market for a new primer then this is what you need because it is amazing, and lasts for about  hours which is your average day and what more do you want?! It sinks straight away into the skin so you don't have to wait a long time.

Urban Decay Naked 3; Review+Swatches♥

I just want to start off with apologising, if you are one of those people who are reading yet another post on the UD Naked 3 palette! The entire world has gone loco for this palette, and there have been many reviews and swatch posts already posted, but I thought that I would just share my opinion with you as I just have to rave about it!

This has been one of the most anticipated makeup releases ever in my opinion, Urban Decay have stolen so many hearts and one of them being mine. I adore by Naked 1 palette and had my heart set on buying 2 last month, but it all changed when 3 popped along and stole the spotlight! I decided to skip buying 2 and move straight onto 3 instead. I am unsure about whether or not I am going to buy 2 yet, but am hoping to buy Basics..anyway enough of a ramble lets' get on with it!
After days of sitting beside the door waiting for the postman to deliver this as a parcel, IT CAME! When I opened it, my heart skipped a beat. I was in complete shock, it was just so beautiful to look at and touch that I was so scared to even use it.After photographing everything and staring at for the whole day, I decided to use it and it was like putting pure heaven on my eyes.
What comes with the palette? With the Naked 1 I got a full size of the original primer potion(that I love) and this palette comes with a double ended brush from UD and 4 samples of their primer potion, each with a weeks worth of primer enclosed > Original, Eden,Sin, and Anti-Aging.
Packaging+Shadows? The case is a rose gold colour with waves that are indented across it and it snaps shut. It is filled with 12 beautiful eye shadows that are all very soft, blendable and very pigmented. There is a mix of matte and glitter/satin shadows that are just overall amazing. My skin is fairly dark, and all of the shadows swathed fine apart from Dust which took a few layers to show up as it is very heavy with glitter and Trick which would not show up on my skin at all, so there is no swatch - apart from they were all a treat to use!
Here are a few pictures and the swatches, you can expect a face of the day tutorial in a few weeks using this palette! I am also really proud of my photography with the palette as the light was awful!
