Glitter In My Veins

After so long, I'm back with a new whats on my nails post! I've become a 'regular' at a salon in Leeds but have had no time to go back from Liverpool to get them done. This then started the hunt to find a local salon, and after a few messages here and there and a stalk on good old facebook. I finally found one, will I go back to it? No idea, maybe try another and see which is best. But for now, they have done the job and infilled my nails.

My go to nail shape is almond, it looks natural and allows me to type, pick up coins and all those other nail struggles you have to deal with. Acrylics are bad for your nails but touchwood, mine have stayed strong underneath and life without having nails on to me is unimaginable. This stunning shade is from the CND Shellac Range in Nude Knickers. Which I can only describe as a flesh toned, pinky nude - in different lights on my skin it looks different and at first it didn't appeal to me but its grown to be well loved.

It looks very subtle and due to the flesh toned colour, it makes me stubby fingers look a lot longer and lady like! The glitter design on both the ring and thumb finger isn't a polish but actual glitter, yes actual glitter. The nail technician held my finger at an angle and then tapped glitter down using a small 'shovel' like tool, it created this gorgeous fade and suits the colour really well.

Overall, I am in love with this combination and the nude shades are getting me ready for spring and pastel!

What's on your nails currently?!

The Prettiest Festive Nails

For me, its an essential to have cute and festive nails at this time of year. This year, I wanted to go down the feminine, pretty yet Christmas themed nails. Before going to the nail salon, I browse Pinterest for hours trying to find something. Forgetting, that it is impossible to recreate something exactly the same! By the time I get to the salon, everything changes and I see a colour or glitter that is stunning.

For example this time, instead of a classic red and gold nail combination I went with lilac! My nail lady had this colour on her nails and it was love at first sight, its a shellac colour so unfortunately I couldn't tell you the name even if I had it in me but the glitter is separate.

She applied the lilac first, followed by the thin silver glitter. To create a stunning combination! They're slightly longer than I usually go for and a little more on the pointy side, but they have been easy to manage and keep a hold of. Shellac on top of acrylics also lasts a lot longer and when they grow out it doesn't look as bad. It costs more to apply shellac, but it lasts longer, looks better and the shine - oh my!

Then for the festive part, keeping it simple and subtle we opted for a few delicate snowflakes on the fourth finger. How people manage to keep a steady hand when drawing things on like this I have no idea, every single one on both hands is so neat and perfect.

Nails of the Moment #5

My nails are like my most important priority. Out of everything, they always have to be prim and proper. I mean you look at them everyday and in the job I am in, so do other people. As long as they are painted thats fine with me, these are not my real nails even though I so wish they were!

House of Wonderland Nail Transfers

Painting my nails is a hobby of mine, I honestly love it so much. or the last few months I was getting my nails done professionally but the cost of maintaining them is ridiculous. I've gone back to my natural nails and to be honest they aren't that bad! My go to nail look is just a coat of polish and maybe some glitter if I'm feeling fancy.

But, I've stepped it up a level and moved onto using the cutest nail transfers from House of Wonderland. A store opened by Tess, a entrepreneur from Edinburgh it features some pretty, quirky jewellery, mugs, cushions and newly released nail transfers.

I was very kindly send a packet of them to try out that has a whole bunch inside, from earth and space to cute little pugs. These are also super easy to use;
> Simply paint your nails as normal
> Choose the transfers you want to apply and cut them out as close as possible (recommend getting these ready before)
> Place the transfers under water for about 5 seconds and then you should be able to peel them straight off - like a temporary tattoo!
> Apply to your chosen nail/s and make sure there are no creases before you apply a top coat to seal it off!

Nails of the Moment #4

This time round when I went to get my nails done, I said to the lovely lady that I wanted something spring/summer like but not to bright. There was a lovely red but I would have to keep it for 6 plus weeks, which is too long to have such a bold colour. I still wanted it on the nude sign, so please welcome 'OPI tickle my france-y'. Its a gorgeous muted pink colour that I have loved wearing.

Nails of the moment #2

OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around
I loved treating myself occasionally and seen as though I was coming to the end of my work placement I took the plunge and went to have my nails done. I was very scared because I wanted them quite short. Rest assured I came out of the salon and I fell in love.

Nails of the Moment #1

Essie Cocktail Bling

I used to always post on my nails, until recently when my nails have just become the least of my priority. Which means, similar to the makeup of the moment posts, I will also be sharing what I have been loving on my nails.

Elegant Touch Review

Elegant Touch
I was recently contacted by the lovely team at Elegant Touch to try out some of their nails and been the nail addict I am, of course I was going to say yes. Today I thought I would do a haul/thoughts about them and how I manage with them on.

Summer Nails 2015

Summer Nails 2015

Summer Nails 2015

Summer is here and the best thing for me about the change in season is the change in my nail colours. I put away the deep berries and bring out the bright ones, in today's post I am going to give you the low down on my top 5 favourite picks for this year!

Rimmel Wild-er-Ness (£2.99)
Wild-er-Ness from Rimmel is a stunning lavender purple and I adore anything that is purple. This is a colour in-between a pastel and a bright, because it is very subtle. You need two even coats to get the colour in the bottle, since Rimmel have re-branded all their polishes there has been an improvement in the formula. It isn't as thick and the brush doesn't split when you use it.
Essie Resort Fling (£7.99)
I have previously talked about this colour on here already so this will be short and sweet. Out of all the colours mentioned in this post, Resort Fling is by far my favourite. It is a lovely orangey coral colour but isn't blinding that it looks ugly on your fingers. Everything looks good with this colour as well and it screams summer.
BarryM Eat My Dust (£3.99)
The Speedy range from BarryM is a pure stroke of genius and a range that lives by the name 'quick drying'. Eat my Dust is the best colour from the range in my opinion because of its uniqueness. it is a powdery, cornflower blue that has a grey undertone making it flattering to my darker skin tone. It is also a great 'toe nail colour' for the summer.
Maybelline Red Hot Getaway (£4.49)
This is the newest polish in my collection, I picked it up the other week after seeing the words NEW next to it in Superdrug. I haven't red much about this new shade from the range but let me tell you, it is amazing. It can be best described as a muted pink coral and looks perfect with a tan! It is currently on my toes and fingers because I am in love with it that much. These also do actually last for 7 days like it says - highly recommend buying them.
Nails Inc Uptown (£15.00)
Nails Inc have got the gel effect look for half the price thing nailed down. The shade Uptown isn't as bright as the rest of my picks but sometimes a nice nude nail polish is just what you need during the summer months.

These are my top 5 five, what are yours?

NOTD| Essie Resort Fling + Set in Stone

It has been a long time since I have posted NOTD and it's no surprise because I haven't bought any new nail polishes in AGES! It pains me every time I say that, but nothing is screaming at me, and saying BUY ME BUY ME!
Recently, I have been going back to the same duo or the past few months now and that is Essie's Resort Fling and Set in Stone. Both of these together are even better than on their own and there is just something about the brightness of them both that I love love love! It is also a great 'toe nail' colour and is an ideal good with a tan polish.
Resort Fling is the perfect Coral shade and is on the orange side of coral similar to a melon, the only downside to it is that you need three coats so the bottle is finishing quicker than I thought :(

This is definitely my go to nail combo, perfect for the summer! What are your favourites for this time of year?

Spring/Summer Nail Edit '15

Summer Nail Edit

Oh BarryM, stop stealing my heart every so often with a new release. When I heard that they were brining out a range called 'Speedy' and it guaranteed to dry instantly? I was hooked. I waited a little while after they got released to see what other people thought of them, and then afterwards I popped into Superdrug and they were on offer for 2 for £7 - I basically couldn't resist and ended up buying 4, my favourite four shades. The shades I picked up, are ones that I think will be perfect for the spring and summer, they are bold and bright!

Today's one is a little different! This is the last one in the series and for the month, if you've missed any then feel free to check them out here and I hope you've enjoyed them! So for today's post I cheated a little bit because last Wednesday I actually went for my nails doing at the salon! It was a little treat for my self and my friend Aimee! I went for something simple but pretty! I had white French tip acrylics with glitter on top, and then a small snowflake on the ring fingers and I have never loved my nails so much! Hope you've enjoyed this serious, and let's hope I can keep posting nail posts in the new year!

I did this last year as well, feel free to check them out here hope you enjoy and hopefully I can remember to post every monday! This week I am talking all about ' BarryM Chair Grey' Gelly, this is such a beautiful colour and even though it isn't very festive and the typical 'christmas colour' it is seasons - as in winter! The weather in the UK has been terrible and this grey is a great reflection of the weather outside! The formula for any BarryM Gelly is amazing and I follow in love over and over again every time I try a new shade!

I did this last year as well, feel free to check them out here hope you enjoy and hopefully I can remember to post every monday!
This week, I have been wearing this gorgeous colour from Essie in 'Damsel in a Dress' which is a stunning deep purple that I think is quite matte even when a top coat is put on top.

Festive Nails #1 - BarryM Raspberry

BarryM Raspberry

Its the first of December, EEEEPPP!! This month you will see a whole range of festive posts, and every monday for the whole month I will be posting different 'Festive Nails'. I did this last year as well, feel free to check them out here hope you enjoy and hopefully I can remember to post every Monday! Today I am bringing you one of the polishes I have had for a while but haven't used before! This is BarryM's Rapsberry with Rose Gold Glitter on top and is the most beautiful combination I have ever seen, the colours work so well together and I wish that this polish was in gelly formula because it doesn't last as long! But never mind, still love it and have worn it for the the past week on my toes and fingers!

Diwali Nails| BarryM Rockstar Glitterati

BarryM Rockstar Glitterati

If you saw my post a few days ago then you will have read all about my makeup that I wore for Diwali, if not read it here. So, I thought I would also share with you my nails for the special occasion and of course they had to be glittery, bright and over the top! Just a side note, these are not my real nails they are the ones that I rave about from Primark but just in a plain colour and then I painted over it and they looked amazing...On these nails I used two coats of the BarryM polish and had to leave it to dry in-between but eventually it worked out well!

The best part, is that because these are fake and they have so much glitter on them I won't have to even scrub it off my nails because the nails can be either re-used or binned! Perfecto combo!! This whole collection looks stunning and I would really like to get the others before they take them away....

Have you tried any of the Glitterati Polishes???

The Primark £1 Nails!

The Primark £1 Nails!

I posted this exact picture on my Instagram a few weeks back and my oh my did I get come lovely comments, as well as people at work telling me how lovely these nails are. Many were surprised to know that they are actually fake and not real! I found these super easy to apply and to wear as for me they weren't that long, I was scared to use and them and hoped that they wouldn't pop off..but they managed to stay on my nails for a few days and I am glad I went with this pattern as its perfect for the summer. I would recommend going out and buying a pack, they have such a wide range of choice for you to choose from and are worth it for only £1!

NOTD| Rimmel London 'Breakfast in Bed'

Rimmel London 'Breakfast in Bed'
Rimmel London by Rita Ora in Breakfast in Bed
My perfect summer nail polish. This is such a gorgeous colour and the picture does not do it justice as in real life it is the most stunning minty blue colour I have in my nail collection. The formula and staying power of Rimmel Polishes are always on point, and this just made me agree with that even more and I want to try more from the Rita Ora range as all the colours look amazing. The name is also uber cute and makes me feel all relaxed when I read it and wear the colour.

NOTD|| Avon Gel Finish Nail Enamel in Lavender Sky

Avon Gel Finish Nail Enamel in Lavender Sky

I get the Avon magazine every two weeks and always stop my self from buying anything as I don't want to spend a fortune on things that I can't really return straight away. One of the things that I didn't hestiate from buying were their new nail polishes called the 'Avon Gel Finish Nail Enamel'
They Claim;
High impact nail colour with a gel like finish without a UV lamp.Base coat, protection, shine, colour and top coat, all in one nail polish.Strengthens nails by up to 42%.Comes off with normal nail vanish remover
Avon Gel Finish Nail Enamel in Lavender Sky

Why Thoughts;
I agree with every single word. This stuff is amazing! As soon as I applied one coat I fell in love, with one coat I achieved the look above! ONE COAT. THAT IS ALL. How amazing is that, the formula is so gel like and glossy and I prefer the formula of this over the BarryM ones because this is so much thinner and applies evenly within one coat. It has also lasted me a whole week, there are a few chips that have started to appear but it hasn't bothered my as much as I thought it would! The colour is just stunning and perfect for this time of year and I think I will buying more from the range because they are great value for money!

They retail at £7 each which is a bit of stretch for me, to be honest...but on offer currently at £3.50 you cannot go wrong at all! I am sure these are new, but don't know as they seem to have been realised before as well as this summer...but no worries still love them!

Nails Of The Week|| Essie Wraps in 'So Haute' ♥

The first nail post of 2014 is here, and this week it is all about the nail wraps. I usually stay away from them because I don't like the faff and if it gets complicated then I loose interest in doing them. These Essie ones are totally different to any of the wraps I have used in the past on myself and other people, you don't have to heat them and then apply you just have to measure, stick, press and file. Easy as pie!
The first thing you need to do is find out which sticker best fits your nail, to make it easier to find this out I cute around the plastic instead of having to guess.

I didn't use them or all or even as many as I thought,as when I filed some off one nail it fit on to another nail and this way I saved on the wraps. And after completing both hands - I just fell in love. Not only was the application really easy but I love the overall finish and design, after realising that the pattern isn't as bright as I thought originally!
