Rediscovered #2 - RT Sponge

 RT Sponge

Apologies for the dirty sponge, but I'm a lazy girl who doesn't wash her brushes every week, ok...
Today is my second 'Rediscovered' post which is my aim to try and use the products that are collecting dust in my makeup draw. This time I have an applicator - the Real Techniques Miracle Sponge aka the best thing in my life. I got this from Cohorted back in November and reviewed it here, and one thing I complained about it was the fact that when you wet it and ring it out, the water is still trapped inside and you can feel it being all wet on your skin. So, the result was that I stopped using it; until a few weeks a ago when I had a ta-da moment and decided to bring it back out and use but this time use it dry.

My life then changed forever, I prefer this over to using a brush and when I do use a brush I hate the finish. This sponge makes applying your base so much easier, it goes on smoothly, looks less cakey and feels as though it doesn't even exist on your skin. You can tell by the photos above that I prefer one side of the sponge the curved edge is much easier to use, I don't like the idea of the flat side as it makes no sense! And the tip is great for buffing in your concealer - double trouble!

I took this sponge away this past weekend for some weddings and it worked a treat, double duty and easy to take along on the go. Have you tried this sponge?? Thoughts?

Mini Brush Trio & Miracle Complexion Sponge

I got sucked in again by cohorted and let me tell you, it is such an easy way of spending money but you're spending it on things that are discounted so its ok! My most recent purchase was the amazing real techniques duo above, the mini brushes and the sponge two things that I was going to get around Xmas time with my boots points but cohorted saved me and did a cracker deal for these two things for only £13! After road testing them for a few weeks, I thought I would share my thoughts with you..

I find it really difficult to fit makeup brushes in my handbag and even school bag, so these are the perfect invention! The pink one is a small powder brush, then the orange one is a foundation brush and the purple is a eye-shadow brush (also great for concealer). They are super cute and so small that they are the size of my hand! At only £9.99 the set is also super affordable, the brushes come in a small plastic pouch which again is great to carry around and keeps your bag tidy so you don't get any makeup stains in your bag.
I was a little hesitant at first because sometimes when products are shrunk down they don't work as well and aren't as good quality but these have proved me wrong. I love them!

Buy the sponge

I am sure you have all heard of the famous Beauty Blender that everyone seems to have, but for me its too expensive and seems like a lot of hassle to keep up with cleaning it. When I first heard that RT where bringing out a way more affordable and budget friendly one I was buzzing..but wanted to wait to get my hands on it. Now I am regretting the fact I didn't buy it earlier. This cute little egg shaped sponge works wonders and has been crafted to make it easier to do certain parts of your face. The orange colour was a bit off putting at first but then I realised that your foundation doesn't really show up much and that makes me a happy chappy. I made the mistake at first of swiping my foundation over my face using the sponge and then thought to myself that I was doing this wrong and watched to tutorial to learn that you press and roll to work the product into your face!!!
The one problem I have with it is when you wet it, even if its only slightly the water doesn't really go away when you ring it out there is still some on the sponge sucked inside other than that I love this sponge a lot, but would choose my buffing brush over it any day!

Have you tried either of these?

No way is this the last ever week of #TheSoProject!! I can't honestly believe that 10 weeks have gone so quickly, and that since first signing up to do this project my knowledge has grown so much more! For the final ever time, I will be taking to you about how to apply your make up.. there are so many different ways to apply it that you are spoilt for choice on what to pick and when and how!

First of all is the most common one which is brushes! There are so many brands out there that you could choose from and use, but my favourite has to be Real Techniques because there is something for everyone for such a great price. It would be something I would add to your wish list because they are amazing! In the below picture you can see two gold brushes, these aren't actually RT they are 'dupes' I bought this on Ebay for £3 each or you can but the whole set for £12. Just like the real ones they work perfectly! The on the left is mainly for foundation and is great for all different types! It also helps create a flawless finish on your face.. the one on the right which is pointed can be used for either blush or bronzer as it is tapered.
The one in the pink is from the actual RT travel collection and is the multi-task brush, you are able to use this one for everything - foundation, powder, bronzer and blusher. Just like the dupe ones it works perfectly on your face and picks up just the right amount of product!

The next thing you could use is make-up sponges that are now available to buy anywhere! These are great used damp with foundation and again give you that flawless airbrushed look to your whole look. For such a great price you can achieve such a lovely look and they come in all different shapes and sizes so you are able to find the one that is the best for you to use.

As well as using brushes and sponges for your face you need tools for your eyes to make them look amazing as well. The two black brushes in this picture are from a make up brush set I actually bought it in a set for Morrisons and haven't stopped using them since! The one at the top is a eye shadow brush which is flat so it makes it easier to really pack on that eye shadow and really bring out the vibrant colours that you want to show off. The other is a eye smudge brush that I love using to mix together colours on the eye and use it more on the crease line so that there aren't any harsh lines that make it look a little like a dolls make up. One of the best tools ever invented has to be the eye lash curler, this one from Primark is my favourite. Why? Well, it was not only cheap but also great at curling your eyelashes before you apply that lovely mascara to give you even longer looking lashes!
TIP - heat your curler for a little while with a hair dryer to make it easier to curl them lashes!

Thank you for being with me for the past 10 weeks and I hope that you have all enjoyed these posts, and if you want to go back and read the rest then click here to find them all together!
