If you are planning to go for a natural makeup look or something shimmery you can never ignore the importance of makeup foundations. It is the line which draws the real difference between an expert makeup artist and a newbie. Makeup foundations can make your face look cakey or even result in skin breakout that may result in an utterly disastrous situation. So, ladies always choose your foundations carefully according to your skin tone and skin type. A Makeup foundation that works well with an oily skin may not necessarily work fine with a dry skin or combination skin. So, it is better to read their reviews first on Paulas Choice or other beauty blogs to make sure if your selected foundation can work for you or not. I have gathered some mistakes that ladies should avoid while dealing with the makeup foundations.

Meat free mango glazed sausage skewers
Saturday, May 7
I have to admit that despite having been a vegetarian (no meat or fish) for more than ten years I love an easy (lazy) life and usually don’t put too much of an effort in to preparing my meals. However, this recipe for sticky sausage skewers which uses mango chutney as a glaze has been a revelation! If you are hosting any veggies this summer for a BBQ this is a recipe which is bound to go down well, and it’s easy to boot!

Controversial beauty ingredients you should never put on your face
Saturday, April 30
Source: all-free-download.com
Let’s be honest, how many of us actually read the labels on products we use? Similar to reading how many calories there are in food products, we don’t pay attention until it becomes really important to us. Even if we read the labels, we look to avoid ingredients we are allergic to, and seldom go further than that. But what about ingredients we overlook that can be harmful for our skin?

5 Top Benefits of Honey for Gorgeous Skin
Saturday, August 29
Delicious and healthy, honey is one of the best all-natural products used in the beauty industry. Thanks to its outstanding health-beneficial properties, honey can help counter various skin conditions such as acne, aging, pore cleansing, treatment for sunburns, and it is also ensures thorough skin revitalization. This makes honey an all-in-one organic tonic for both internal and external use. When thinking about taking it for the internal benefit, Gold Bee is the best place to go.
Honey’s Top Five
Skin Perfecting Benefits
1. Complexion booster
Due to its soothing and moisturizing nature, raw honey can be used to revitalize a sagging complexion. Honey also adds a touch of radiance to dry, parched skin. To get the most out of your delicious skincare routine, use honey as a facial mask. First, clean your face well with a damp cloth or wash it with water and light soap, then apply a thin layer of honey by gently massaging it into your skin. Leave the mask to sit for 30 minutes, and then rinse it off with warm water. What you’ll get is a silky, well-nourished skin that looks healthy - and feels good to be in, too.

2. Pore cleanser
Honey also helps
unclog blocked pores, so it will make a great home-made exfoliator. Prepare a
paste with 2/3 honey and 1/3 baking soda (the latter will boost the exfoliating
effects without causing skin irritation), then apply the mixture to the face,
neck and other parts of your body in need of a quick dead cell removal regimen.
Rub in the blend carefully, leave it on for about 10-15 minutes, rinse it out,
and then enjoy a smooth, soft skin for weeks on end.
You
can always use skin care products that contain honey, too. Don’t forget to make
sure they are 100% pure organic skin care products.

3. Acne treatment
Known for its antibacterial effects, honey is a perfect home acne preventive and remedy. In case of a severe breakout, apply a dab of honey onto the pimples using a cotton swab and leave it onuntil it’s dry, then wash it off. For persistent acne, a paste prepared from honey and cinnamon may prove to be helpful. Start the process by applying the mixture to the problematic area, and let it soak overnight. Wash your face with lukewarm water in the morning, and avoid makeup until the acne area clears. You can also boost the effects of this skin care regimen by adding several drops of tea tree and lavender oil to the mixture.

4. Anti-ageing effect
Honey contains
antioxidants, organic compounds that help prevent cell damage, combat
inflammation, and minimize the negative effects of free radicals that lead to
aging. For this reason, honey may prove an invaluable ally in prevention of
wrinkles, fine lines, and acne scarring.
Turn back the clock with a concoction prepared from honey and milk (or curd),
and then coat over your face in a thin layer. Leave the paste to dry overnight,
or allow it at least a couple of hours to soak. Rinse your face with lukewarm
water afterwards, and check the mirror for the regimen effects.
5. Sunburn treatment
According to numerous medical studies, honey can also be highly efficient
in treatment of sunburns and similar heat-induced wounds. With
a range of antiseptic, moisturizing, and antibacterial effects, honey contributes
to prompt healing of deep and/or large sunburns. For a speedy
recovery, regularly apply raw honey to the vulnerable parts of your skin. You’ll
find that time is not the only organic
healer – honey’s just as effective, and it tastes great too.
Whether
you decide to use it in your diet or beauty regimen, you cannever go wrong with honey. A natural formula for overall
well-being, the bee nectar will keep all your needs covered 24/7 with a premium
quality film of sweetness and health.

LED Dresses: New LBDs?
Friday, July 31
LED dresses: New LBDs?
Unless you’ve been living
under the rock for the past decade, you’ve surely had the chance to witness the
abrupt going green, in lack of a better word, movement. And while the whole
deal did take us by surprise given how suddenly and quickly this phenomenon got
wings, it was about time for environmental consciousness to finally become the
topic of both interest and doing!
The moment celebrities
hopped on board and decided living green is the only right way to live, talks
of eco life turned into strong campaigns, encouraging others to go green, too.
And, that’s amazing!
Plenty celebrities are
even spokespeople for raising eco consciousness, basing their eco preaching on
their own lives – Leonardo DiCaprio spent $10 million on New York City pad making it ultra-green; the acclaimed TV journalist Lisa Ling
also made sure her living space is leaving an environmental footprint. Public
figures like Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tricia Helfer, Daryl Hannah, Ed Begley Jr. and many more are
supporting the nature, too in their own way. For instance, the
gorgeous Brazil-born supermodel Gisele Bundchen who is a noted environmentalist
reportedly had her staggering 22,000 square feet house designed and upgraded
with as many eco-friendly bells and whistles as possible. This includes
rainwater recycling systems, solar panels, and energy-efficient lighting and
appliances. In fact, speaking on the
topic of sustainable life, the model said that in addition to other
eco-friendly items, LED lighting was an
absolute must for her
house, as it reduces energy consumption and is eco-friendly.
Unfortunately, exercising their right not to
sacrifice their Hollywood-given gift of lush life, some celebrities,
predominantly ones from the fashion world, are taking green living as a joke it
seems.
What in fashion is hurting the environment?
The new trend in the
world of singers, models, actresses and other crème de la crème personas is
wearing technology. From likes of designers who have been branded “fashion
forward” and “fashion changing”, we’ve seen LED-enhanced dresses, bodysuits and
skirts which, in all honesty, do look great but are such a slap in Mother
Nature’s face. Yes, proper lighting
products such as LED lights are a better choice for anyone who wants to play
Matrix with their creations, but in the long run such abuse of resources can’t
bring anything good.
However,
taught by experience – we know that fashion doesn’t care for anything but the
fashion itself.
Sometime
ago Katy Perry sported a jumpsuit fully laden with LED lights while on her 2014
tour. A year before that, Carrie Underwood wore a LED dress during the 2013
Grammy; the same year as Perry, Ariana Grande performed in a skirt and top that
were covered in LED lights and of course Rihanna, who is a huge fan of wearable
technology, wore a dress which was a combination
of system of compressed gas systems and video capable LED circuits with a
lighting sequence. Probably the most surprising was Nicole Scherzinger’s
Twitter dress that featured 2,000 LED lights and 3,000 Swarovski crystals. The
dress showed tweets in real time.

fashioningtech.com
So, we couldn’t help but
wonder whether this trend would just be a jewel in the crown of those who walk
the red carpet or will there be a chance for the average consumer to get their
hands on the dresses.
Interestingly, most
designers have decided to take the LED trend to the more attainable markets. Twinkling
and shining (literally!) dresses, jackets, wedding dresses, shoes, accessorize…
aren’t just for those with deep pockets anymore! Prices of these weird but
awe-striking creations have gone lower than we’ve ever thought they might and
are now not just a dream, but potentially a part of any woman’s wardrobe. Well,
any woman who is fashion-conscious at least. In all honesty, it would come as no surprise if LED became the new LBD.
How come that these dresses even came into existence?
The cultural
shift in fashion has been evident for many years now and it was just a matter
of time when young “weird” and “edgy” designers will liberate people’s inner
oddness through the clothes they are making. Everyone is getting a kick from
being “different” and out of the ordinary these days, so the LED clothes may
just be their ticket.
Some companies
have gone to the extent of allowing the wearer to broadcast whatever message
they want on their shirts by texting messages to themselves.
And the psychological impact?
Designers have
defended technologically enhanced clothing as “interactive, allowing emotions
to be spelled out across your chest as well as your face”. As if we didn’t have
emotions before technology hit our lives.
The new era
brought about a very worrying trend where people identify their value with what
they have on their backs. This is absolutely wrong for anyone who is looking to
build a healthy self-worth. I fear that the technologically enhanced clothing
may lead to people losing connection to their human identity and adopt the
robot-like image which may quickly shift from cool to inhuman, and people will get even more confused with
their identities than they already are. Hopefully, this won’t happen.

Summer Body Essentials by Kimamely Beauty
Wednesday, July 29
Hi everyone, it's Kirstie from Kimamely Beauty here. Huge thanks to Parie for letting me share this post with you all. This is actually a Summer Essentials collaboration, so she's sharing her melt proof makeup must haves over on my blog too! I'm covering the body element of getting summer ready, so grab an ice-cold cocktail, pretend you're lying on a tropical beach and enjoy!
Summer is the season I live for, not only for holidays, but for all the beautiful products that it is finally seasonally-appropriate to use. But that doesn't usually stop me, I'm smelling of coconuts all year round, craving that summer vibe. This year I've made some incredible body product discoveries; here's an edited-down version of what's been sweetening my summer and giving me the glow.
BODY
Although it's a year-round favourite for me, coconut scented products always conjure up images of tropical seascapes. I've been using Hawaiian Tropic for years, so the scent always takes me back to holidays abroad. The latest product in my stash is their Coconut Aftersun Body Butter (£10.99). It has a thick, creamy consistency that is both soothing and hydrating, and the scent is incredible.
For all cooling purposes, The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Sorbet (£8) should be your first port of call. I love its delicious zingy scent, and kept in the fridge, it is a refreshing antidote to a long day spent in the sun.
Shower time is well taken care of by Yves Rocher. I've gone mad for their Monoï de Tahiti Lagoon Hair & Body Wash (£3.20). It has the familiar undertones of the coconut scent we know and love, but has a sophisticated and exotic twist. It's the kind of product I'd expect in an expensive Caribbean hotel.
TAN
Another product from the Monoï de Tahiti range that I'm obsessed with is their Precious Dry Oil (£14.90). Perfect for nights out, this beautifully scented dry oil will add a subtle golden glow to boost your tan, making you look irresistible!
Talking of tan, we're all about staying safe in the sun and faking your glow. The pale girl's dream has arrived in the form of the St.Tropez Gradual Tan In-shower Lotion (£14.50), but if you're not of the pasty variety, you may want to opt for a tanning mousse. I'd recommend the Vita Liberata NKD Skin Superfast Tan Mousse (£14.95). Sunkissed skin in an hour? Yes please.
FEET
As body parts go, feet just aren't nice. But there are a few things you can use to help them on their way. Summer = sandal season, and no one wants flaky feet. Soap & Glory Heel Genius (£5.50) is a foot cream with a nourishing balmy texture. It helps to soften dry skin to give a little bit of life back to lacklustre tootsies.
I've been going mad over the Tea Tree & Peppermint Deep Moisturising Foot Packs (£1.96) recently. Slip a pair of these pre-soaked socks on and your feet are cooled, soothed and moisturised. Yes they might look a bit silly, but your feet will thank you. They're a must after long summer nights spent partying or lazy a afternoon's sightseeing.
Finally, a spritz of a summery scent always brings back fond summer memories. Why not pick up a perfume in duty free before you head to your destination? The scent will forever remind you of that trip! For me, the fruity and feminine Marc Jacobs Oh, Lola! (£39) will always take me back to being in Zante last year. It is lightweight and refreshing, so makes a great summer scent, and with it's combo of raspberry, pear and peony, it smells a bit different to a lot of other fruity florals on the market.
I hope you guys have enjoyed reading my summer essentials! It's been great fun collaborating with Parie, don't forget to check out her post over on my blog, Kimamely Beauty.
Dates for Your Diary: Greetings Cards at the Ready!
Tuesday, July 28
We know how it is; you start the year with great intentions, filling up your diary with important dates, before quickly misplacing it and ending up instead relying on Google Calendar. With that in mind, we thought you might need a little recap when it comes to important dates in the next 12 months.
For the Muslim community, Eid al-Fitr – which this year falls on September 24 – is also known as the ‘festival of breaking the fast’. And should you have a friend, relative, colleague or neighbour who observes this festival, why not help them mark the occasion with a beautiful handmade card? Celebrated by Muslims worldwide, the religious holiday is to Muslims what Christmas is to Christians. In the absence of Eid-related cards and gifts, a blank card featuring a pretty floral design and including a heartfelt hand-written note will go some way to helping friends mark the festival.

While it’s not quite as prominent here in the UK, Halloween (October 31) presents a great opportunity to spruce up your home in the otherwise quiet period between autumn and Christmas. Increasingly, decorative household items are becoming the norm in supermarkets here in the UK, with cards popping up in gift shops, too. Why not search for a blank card featurin pretty orange blooms to send during the holiday, or ‘just because’?
Next up, on November 1, Diwali – also known as ‘the festival of lights’ is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn. Spiritually signifying the victory of light over darkness, preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, which means you have plenty of time to drop in a card at a friend or colleague’s.
Across the pond in the US, our American friends celebrate Thanksgiving Day on November 26. Just over a month before Christmas, the holiday also precedes Black Friday, where those in the US queue up outside department stores to bag cut-price deals. If you have friends or relatives in America, pop this date in your Google calendar and get organised early by hand-making a pretty card or buying a gorgeous handmade one. Think cards featuring shades of orange and deep plums, to mark the festival which is celebrated in late autumn.
We doubt you’ll escape the run up to St Valentine’s Day without spotting the card and gift shops’ huge banners reminding you of the holiday. But just in case…it takes place on February 14, which next year falls on a Saturday – ideal if you want to take your loved one for a day out somewhere nice. You won’t have any trouble finding a host of pretty cards online, but if you’d rather opt for something a little different, instead have a go at making your own.

Which occasions do you mark with a gorgeous greetings card? Of course, there’s no reason to wait for these events and these events only; why not surprise someone you care about with a handmade card out of the blue like those sold at Decorque Cards? It’s surprising how such a simple gesture can put a smile on someone’s face.
This lovely guest post is by Lesley Rudman Stevens, who is the founder of Decorque Cards. Where she designs her own handmade greeting cards for you to buy for those special occasions!
2 Bright & Bold Indian Wedding Guest Looks
Monday, July 20
Hey, it’s Aamira and I’m back!
Parie is letting me write for her blog for a third time now (thank you so much Parie!)
Recently, my cousin and neighbour have both gotten married in the space of two weeks and I have had the honour of going to both of them! Going to weddings and being part of their happiness is a memory within a memory! Congrats to both of the couples.
Wedding Look #1
So, the first wedding was my neighbours! For this wedding, I decided to wear a long - a really long - bottle green dress. As always, I look for inspiration of makeup looks on Instagram and then create my own look. From all the inspirational pictures, I supported an Arabic-style eye with a green smoky eye.
When creating an Arabic eye, a clean crisp line in a necessity. For this, I places sellotape from the outer corner of my eye to the end of my eyebrow. I then added my ‘Collection 2000’ Concealer in shade 1 over my base to act as a base and then to prevent creasing.
Using a shading brush, I added the Emerald Green colour from the ‘Victoria Jackson Eye Shadow Palette’. I added this all over my lid and up to my crease. Tip: To intensify the colour, try using a damp brush to apply the colour.
I then used a mixture of ‘Blackheart’ from the ‘Naked 3 Palette’ and ‘Creep’ from the ‘Naked Palette’ on the outer edge to create that smoky eye. I used these 2 shades of black to get an intense black shade. I added this using a fluffy blending brush making sure I only add it to the outer third of the eye. Tip: For a smoky eye, start with small amounts of product and they layer more product. This leads to less room for mistakes (trust me, too much product=panda eyes).
To blend the colour, windscreen wiper motions are your best friend! I slightly blended this black into the crease but focused the blending into the green. After I was happy with my blending, I added more of the Emerald Green colour using my finger.
To line my eyes, I used ‘Collection 2000’s Felt Tip Liner’ and lined my eyes using my tape as a guide. As I have small eyelid space, my eyeliner was pretty thin.
Now, to remove the tape!
I lined my waterline using ‘Urban Decay’s Perversion Eyeliner’ and lined the entire waterline and creating a little point in the inner corner. I then ran a little but on the Emerald Green colour on my lash line. I then used ‘Maybelline’s Rocket Lashes Mascara’ on my top lashes and ‘Urban Decay’s Perversion Mascara’ on my bottom lashes.
I concealed my dark circles with ‘Collection 2000 Concealer’ and used my ring finger to blend it in. For foundation, I then used a mixture of Body Shop’s Foundation in shade 08 and MAC’s ‘Pro Longwear Foundation’ in shade NC 35. I used a buffing brush to blend this into my skin and obtain that flawless finish.
To contour, I used the matte brown colour from the ‘MUA Eyeshadow Palette’ and used a contour brush to slightly sculpt out my cheekbones and jawline. I also used this colour to slightly contour my nose. For blush, I used ‘FX’s Mineral Puff Blush’ in ‘Desert Rose’ and applied that to the apples of my cheeks. For highlight, I used the highlighter from the ‘Urban Decay – On The Run Palette’ and applied it on my cheekbones using my fingers.
For my lips, I lined them and filled them with a Maroon Lip Liner.
Wedding #2
Now for my cousins wedding! For this wedding, I was wearing a really heavy Royal Blue flowy dress with silver and gold embroidery all over the dress. For this part of the post, I shall just be focusing on the eyes as the products that I used on my face the same products as ‘Wedding #1’.
For this look, I stuck sellotape from the outer corner of my eye to the corner of my eyebrow. I used ‘Collection 2000’s Concealer’ as a base. I then applied the gold shade from the ‘No.7 Eyeshadow Palette’ and using the shader brush, applied this all over my lid. Then using the Royal Blue shade from MAC’s Eyeshadow Palette, I applied this to the outer half of my eye using the other side of the shader brush. To blend these two colours together, I used my fingers. For the outer V of my eye, I added ‘Blackheart’ from the ‘Naked 3 Palette’ and then blended it into the Royal Blue colour. To line my eyes, I used ‘Collection 2000’s Felt Tip Liner’ and I used ‘Urban Decay Perversion Mascara’ on both my top and bottom lashes. To highlight the inner corner, I used the highlighter that came in ‘Urban Decay – On The Run Palette’.
For lips, I used a light pink lip gloss which completed my look! Hope you enjoyed reading this and try to recreate this look or maybe add a twist to it.
Thank you,
Aamira x

The appearance of the internet only 25 years ago has changed our world forever. Billions of people go online every day and interact with people in ways that were entirely impossible and unimaginable even to our parents’ generation.
We are now able to access all types of information and share things that were once shared with our close friends and family only. Take the social media for example: they have completely changed the way we live, from socializing, dating and communicating, to shopping and working.
Nowadays, if you don’t have a social network profile, it is almost as if you don’t exist. You are on the outskirts of the modern world.
The Impact On Our Status In Society
Image left Found on badwolfebay.tumblr.com
Image right Found on bloglovin.com
This has brought about some serious changes in the way how we see and present ourselves, making us more aware of our appearance, our ‘friends’ and our general status in society. We have gone from anonymity to global presence almost overnight. And now we have to play the part, we have to look the best we can, show we are interesting and beautiful and provide continual proof of it.
The Phenomena Of Selfies
Image Found on listal.com
Our ‘walls’ and ‘feeds’ abound with self-portraits, commonly known as ‘selfies’. In the times past, taking photos of yourself and constantly putting them on public display in order to get feedback for your looks would have been considered narcissistic, but in our times it is a given. Everybody has become a photo model and a star in their own movie now, striking best poses and showing their best face. The phenomena of social networks and selfies have changed the paradigms of what beauty is and what is acceptable.
Recent Studies
Image Found on usmagazine.com
Recent Dove studies have shown that 82% of
women believe social media are impacting how we define beauty now. The days of
magazine top models and TV stars are gone; we used to form our ideas of beauty
by looking at them and comparing ourselves to their bodies and feel inadequate
to say the least. But nowadays, we have access to many more images of real
women and girls who do not look like top models but are beautiful nonetheless.
We are slowly but surely redefining our concepts of beauty thanks to the selfie
craze!
Make-Overs
Image Found on blog.arnhem.co
Apart from making us more liberal and
accepting of cultural and physical differences, selfies have also raised the
bar. We tend to think that ‘if so and so can look a certain way, why can’t we’.
Even though there are many photo
editing filters people use to optimize their selfies and edit their less desirable
features, some people go the extra mile of actually undergoing real life style
changes and make-overs. Talking to specialists from the Skin Clinic Penrith we’ve found out that the
selfie trend has caused an increase in the number of people having cosmetic
procedures like mesotherapy and filler injections. It is certainly far better
to use these non-invasive procedures than to try to cover our imperfections
with tons of thick make-up which only makes us look older and unnatural.
These days the aim has become to
maintain the fresh, youthful and natural look that will get us the biggest
amount of likes on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram profiles, and we do not
shy away from achieving it.
Welcome to the future where the best
version of yourself is the ideal of beauty!

Which Hairbrush Materials Prevent Breakage?
Friday, June 19
Today I have a guest post By Jennifer McCarrick of Capillus, all about the hairbrush materials that prevent any breakage in your hair. Enjoy!
Summertime means humidity, and for curly,
thick or unruly hair, high temperatures usually lead to frizz. Believe it or
not, your finishing gel isn’t the only cure for split ends and pouf. In fact,
your styling tools might be a major contributor toward frizzled hair that’s all
too present during the hotter months.
To combat frizz, stick with the following
hairbrush materials.
Boar
Boar bristles come from hogs and are
perfect for sealing the cuticle layer of your hair. These natural, flexible
bristles are excellent at creating a sheen finish on all hair types. Boar
bristles are extremely flexible and can’t withstand styling alone, so
manufacturers often mix them with nylon materials for a stronger hold. Even
though they aren’t 100 percent boar hair, mixed brushes still manage to create
shiny hair and are strong enough to use while styling.
Nylon
Most generic hairbrushes are made from
nylon. They are engineered to be soft and pliable or alternatively, very firm
and stiff. If you suffer from unruly hair, nylon brushes are the best at
providing control while blow-drying. Nylon brushes vary, so opt for a tight
bristle for better hold. The looser spaced bristles aren’t as good at
detangling curly and knotted locks.
Porcupine
Porcupine brushes aren’t actually made of
porcupines. The term is derived from the pattern in which porcupine brushes are
made, also known as the tufted bristle. These brushes are usually made of both
boar and nylon bristles, and the pattern is best for detangling and styling
fine hairs.
Metal
Metal bristles are extremely rigid and
shouldn’t be used on real hair. But, if you’re suffering from hair loss and using
a laser hair therapy product, you might
be wearing a wig to cover balding. Metal bristles are best used for hairpieces
because they are strong enough to detangle false strands. Be sure to opt for
plastic tips as to avoid damaging your wig or hairpiece.
Aside from brush materials, you might be
wondering about the best shape of brush for your needs. There are four main
types of hairbrush heads: round, vented, styling, and cushioned. Vented brushes
feature wide, flexible bristles – best used for blow-drying since they allow airflow
to pass through. For a basic brush, consider cushioned, which is the type most
commonly used in paddle brushes. Round brushes are good for curling, but
require a strong hand since they are more difficult to maneuver. Finally,
classic styling brushes have a half-rounded head with around seven rows of
bristles. These are best used for traditional blowouts.
