Trying My Hand At Contacts

Since the age of 8, I have always worn glasses. I need them for reading, writing, teaching, driving even when I apply my makeup! Without them there would be no me and I wouldn't be able to see a THING. My parents and the opticians have always gone on to me about wearing contacts but I'm such a wimp, that I've always said no. Until now, with my eyesight as bad as it is (I'm -12 on both eyes) it was time for a change.

Wedding Guest Makeup Look

Wedding season is my favourite time of year, the pretty outfits, gorgeous venues and of course the food! I have one event this coming weekend and then one at the end of next month, it is such an exciting time! This is going to be my go to look for sure, its very simple but full glam that will last me throughout the day without budging. The look is very similar to what I usually wear on a special occasion but a wedding makes everything that little bit more special.

Lashes For Glasses

Since the age of eight, glasses have been permanently stuck on my face. My eyesight is terrible, I'm talking - can't see anything without them on. A few years ago I dabbed in and out of the whole contact lense thing, but my eyes have worsened and they aren't quite an option at the moment (that's how bad they are) so I have to embrace the glasses. I have no shame wearing specs, as some people do, they make me who I am and are the greatest fashion accessory. Someone once told me that because of wearing glasses, wearing false lashes wasn't really an option. Well, guess who proved them wrong? This girl. I love lashes, they aren't something I wear all the time, but when in the mood a bit of a lash lift can't do anyone any harm.

Firmoo Glasses Review

I have worn glasses since I was 8 years old, so a good 10 years now! At first I wasn't really bothered about what they looked like but as time as gone on my glasses have become the most important accessory. I have learnt to love them and that wearing them really isn't a bad thing, it hides my awful bags and means I don't always have to wear eye makeup. In today's post I am talking all about my new glasses from Firmoofirmoo glasses review

A Visit to Specsavers in Leeds...Part 2| The Glasses

If you missed my previous post about visiting specsavers in Leeds, then be sure to read it here. In this post I will be showing you my fancy new pairs of glasses and how they have been doing over the past few weeks of me road testing them. Under Specasvers 2 for 1 offer I managed to get two beautiful pairs, one for everyday and then one for the evening time to change things up a little along with having really super thin lenses that Specsavers provide which is great for people like me with really bad lenses.

The Hilfiger frame is a plastic based frame and the other is metal, both of these frames are something that I have never tried before. I have always been a girl to go for the black frames and they are square shaped never on earth did I think that the rounder framed glasses would suit me but something about these two pairs and the lovely help of Julia from the store made me fall in love with them.

The Everyday Pair - These are plastic so I feel very scared about breaking them, but they are amazing and feel so light on my face. I love the shape of them and the colour as they look so bright against my dark hair colour.

This pair is also purple (i like the colour purple, can you tell?) but these are metal not plastic and even though these are the wider frame size they are ever so slightly cat eyed in the corners if you can see. These make them so chic and perfect for the evening because they add an edge, in the picture above in the red dress was taken during diwali and I received so many lovely comments about how much they suited me and that's the best thing.

Wearing glasses can be a pain and sometimes can be embarrassing for some, but you have to wear them with style and you have to rock them so hard that everyone looks at you and can see that even though you wear glasses you aren't hiding behind them. Getting compliments about the frame that you are wearing is the best feeling in the world and I get all fuzzy inside because my glasses are what makes me who i am and i like that people are noticing them.

Hope you enjoyed this post and look out for more posts in the future about glasses!

A Visit to Specsavers in Leeds| Part 1

A Visit to Specsavers in Leeds|

Last week, I made my way to Leeds when it was raining, miserable and basically had everyone on the train in a really bad mood. I headed over to Specsavers on Albion St. to be greeted by a team of wonderful people who were going to be showing me around and help me pick out a new pair of glasses. The purpose of the visit was to see what their store is like, learn more about what their brand is and discover more about the ear care and eye care options they have available.

The Specsavers Eye Test
For years I have been going to a local options and let me tell you now they have been cheating me of my money (well parents and NHS) for years and telling me useless information instead of the stuff I wanted to know. I stopped going there about a year and a bit ago because I didn't like the choices of frames I had their. When the store became aware of this, they took my current glasses and tested them to see the prescription of them to then compare.
I had a  pre-test and then an eye test..at first I was a bit taken back and worried because I had no idea what that meant! The pre-test is to check that your eyes are healthy and all well inside, using a special machine the lovely assistant Peter measured the pressure in my eye and took images of my eye to hand to the option later to see if everything is well. Then I called by the option herself to her room for my actual eye examination, this was the part I was most looking forward to as I wanted to see how it differs from my previous experience.
It involved her testing each eye separately and then together, as well as asking me my families medical history as some things can be hereditary. After checking each eye she then made sure that my eyes were able to focus at different distances and then she explained everything to me about my prescription, the condition of my eyes and made me feel so comfortable I felt as though I had known her forever. I believe her name was Kiran, and she was amazing!

The Styling
At Specsavers they understand that each person is different and not everyone can look by themselves and pick out a new frame that will suit them. So they buddy you up with a frame stylist who guides you through the whole process, the lovely Julia helped me to pick out some awesome frames. The stylists at every store now what they are doing, and by looking at your face shape and features they pick out a range of different frames for you, then you try and see which you like the best. There is also so much choice in this store, in both the women's section and men's, which can be quite overwhelming so having a stylist made life easier!

The store in Leeds and I presume a few stores have a 'Magic Mirror' which is a camera that takes photos of you with each frame on as it can be really difficult trying on new glasses when you can't see what they look like! After taking the pictures, you can look clearly at each image and see which you like best.
Specsavers have a 2 for 1 offer on currently and if not that are always having offers on so I managed to pick up two pairs of glasses that are completely different to anything I have ever owned. I sat down at a little desk with the stylist and she took measurements of the frames on me to see what needs adjusting and making sure that they sit comfortably on my nose and everything is centred.
