Must Have Festival Makeup

When June arrives, so does Festival season. In the UK there are a wide range of festivals happening all over the country, some experience bad weather and others get glorious sunshine. Whatever the weather, your makeup of course needs to be prepared and ready for everything! I’ve selected a few favourites that are available to buy through Cosmetify, a website that makes buying beauty products quick and easy. You can browse over 1000 brands and find the best places to buy the products you are wanting/love.

#1 Long lasting Base

It is very important to make sure that your base is long lasting, not too heavy and will last through rain or shine. A primer is always a must for my oily skin, I love anything that is gripping and pore filling. The Milk Hydro Grip is fabulous and helps any foundation applied on top stay like a dream. Then for foundation, I adore the L’Oreal Infallible 24-Hour Fresh Wear. Its so light on the skin and no matter how many layers you apply, it still feels like skin. The coverage is medium – but enough for everyday and special occasion wear. A little bit of powder and you’re face is good to go.

#2 Golden Shimmer

The best thing about summertime is the glow and golden look you can give to the skin, even if you haven’t seen the sun. Bronzer is a must for this exact reason. Applying a little bit near the hairline, cheeks and jawline will not only sculpt the face but give it some colour. I must apply bronzer because foundation makes me so washed out. Then its time for highlighter – the best part of any makeup look. TheBalm Mary Lou Manizer* is perfect for every skin tone and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to try it out. It’s a shimmer that diffuses the skin and makes it look softer whilst adding a subtle glow.

#3 Pop of Colour

If a festival isn’t the best time to bring out the colours and glitter. If I’m going very heavy on the eye make-up, then I make sure the face is done quite simple and subtle. If you haven’t got a palette for the summer yet, then you need this Technic Summer Glow Palette*. JUST LOOK AT HOW BEAUTIFUL. This pressed pigment palette, features a range of browns, pinks and shimmers to help create a wide range of looks. Each shadow is named after a place in the world. I love the bright colours and for less than £10 it’s a steal. The shadows are pigmented, very easy to blend and look beautiful. For this festival look, I took a mixture of Mauritius and Bora Bora in the crease. Then packed on Antigua and Bahamas all over the lid, to give a sunset type look. I decided it then needed some glitter, so I mixed all 3 from the palette and applied just to the middle of the lid. I am in love with the overall look – it’s so pretttyyyyy!

bobbi brown juicy date

#4 Glossy Lips and Coral Tips

The lip gloss trend has got me going crazy. Never thought that I would be someone who loves a gloss over a traditional matte lipstick but I’m loving it so much more. I recently discovered the Bobbi Brown Crushed Liquid Lip in Juicy Date* and it’s a hybrid product. The look of a liquid lipstick but feels like a balm that leaves a glossy look. It smells like berries and just glides on to the lips. It is also a great shade and product to keep in your bag when at the festival top up without worrying about not being able to see what you’re doing/when in a hurry. Your fingers and toes are going to be out for a festival so make sure there is some colour on them. Essie’s Resort Romanza* is a stunning summer shade suitable for all skin tones. It’s a coral with more of a red undertone and looks amazing with sandals and lots of jewellery.

#5 As You Go

I think its important to take a bag with only the essentials. Don’t be carrying around things ‘just in case you need them’. Be strict. The essentials are of course; phone, charger, money ect. One essential I can’t anywhere without is Blotting Paper*. It not only helps keep your makeup in check, but it also controls oil, shine but also helps with sweat control.

Festivals are so much fun, as are outdoor concerts which are common now too. If you are going to anything this year or in the future, then I do hope this helps in some way.

Diwali or Festive Makeup

Happy Diwali to those who celebrate! Every time we get to this time of year I really start to think about how quickly time is going. This year I am spending Diwali (today 11th) with my flat mates going for a lovely meal and then with the family at the weekend. Very odd. I love showing what I did for my make-up and the aim was something pretty yet bright! I based everything around the dress which is the Dhalia dress, very pretty and summery but in the evening is going to look amazing. There are hints of pink and red coming from the flowers on the dress so i decided to keep that as the theme and went for that colour on my lips. The shade Date Night is from Seventeen* and is a lovely pinky colour but to amp it up I added the red from the All Out Lip Palette* which looked amazing! Because the lips and dress were so bright I went with a warm glow to the face, starting with my trustee L'Oreal Foundation, L.A Girls Concealer and Seventeen Contour Kit*. Summer might be over but I like my skin to have a bronze colour to it. I am also LOVING highllighting, why it has taken me so long to get on board I have no idea but it looks gorgeous on the skin and lasts all day, for this look I used the MAC Soft & Gentle.  Then we go onto the eyes for this I used the Seventeen Easy on the Eye Palette* which is full of smoky, dark colours. The palette also comes with a primer and cream shadows to help keep your eye make-up on all night long, I only touched the bottom row of colours. Followed by the smallest amount of Falsifeye Mascara*, I love this mascara to bits that I am now running low so saving it for special occasions.

And that is the whole look finished! I wanted something super simple, easy and yet striking. I love the purple on the eyes and the red lips it works really well with my dress.

Hope you enjoyed!

FOTD; Diwali Celebrations

Diwali Celebrations

Another 'What's on my Face' post today, and today is the weekend of Diwali! And I thought I would share with you the look I decided to go with, Diwali was actually on Thursday but the celebrations in my household carry on for the whole weekend! Happy Diwali to anyone who also celebrates!

Face

L'Oréal True Match Foundation// I have only had this since September and even though that isn't a very long time I have fallen in love with. The formula, texture, coverage and lasting of it is genius and the bonus is that I don't even have to use a primer because my skin prefers it without!

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer// My skin looks a little more flawless with this foundation so I don't the need for a lot of face concealer, but my under eye circles need a lot of covering up and this does the trick perfectly.

Rimmel Matte Powder// Not too much on this powder apart from the fact that it sets everything in place and doesn't make my face go all shiny and weird.

MAC Bronzer// A lovely natural glow in the night and in the middle of October is ok right? I love how this shade looks on my skin and gives me this lovely bronze look even though my skin is pretty dark in the winter.

Natural Collection Blush in Rosey Glow// This is a very new addition to my makeup routine, I found this gem when I was tidying up a while back now and every since have not stopped using it! I love how natural it looks and doesn't make me look overly flushed.

MUA Highlighter// This is the prettiest thing I have ever seen! I use this on my cheeks and my eyes as a highlighter because its just so pretty and beautiful.

Eyes

Diwali Celebrations

Sleek Oh So Special// I really neglect my Sleek palettes and always stick to the UD ones, but in fact the Sleek ones are amazing too and super pigmented! the picture above shows the colours that I used and I believe they are called 'Organza (the second on the top row) and Ribbon (the one next to it)' I mixed them together on my lid to create the colour of my base and then in the crease I used a little bit of 'Celebrate(last one on the top row)' these names are also related to the occasion so I thought that is perfect!

Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara//  An oldie but a goodie, this mascara made life simple for me because it came off at night which is by bug bear when mascara clings on to your eyelashes. Love the natural look this gives my eyes and its been collecting dust for a long time now, so it was about time I used it again!

Lips

Now I really struggled with the colour of my lips for this look, at first I put Tanya Burr's 'Picnic in the Park' but in the end I went with a red because why not?

Bourjois Rouge Edition in Hot Pepper// This colour looks so pretty at night and this is the only one from the four I have that I haven't yet used so this was a first time...and I loved the result.

I loved the way my makeup turned out and didn't expect the Sleek palette to be this good and the lips work great with the eyes too! Got another part tonight and very much looking forward to it, Happy Diwali!

Blogmas Day 16 || Festive Berry Makeup ♥

If you are a little strapped for cash this month (as most of us are) I decided to create a little shopping list for you all that won't tear that purse of yours. Here a few drugstore items that you can to create an amazing festive look - my theme was to keep it natural with bold coloured lips/nails. Everything on the picture and mentioned is linked at the end!

Primer - If you want your makeup to last as long as possible then you need to apply some primer that suits your skin best..I suggest trying this out in advance rather than on the day you decide to look pretty. A smooth base will allow you to apply your makeup easier and give you that flawless finish.
Foundation - You don't always have to go for a full coverage foundation, but I find that for special occasions we like a little more coverage. Personally, I like using high coverage foundations that don't need any concealer on top..this is saving you and money. If you feel the need to cover and conceal a little more then just apply a small amount of your foundation and blend it well.
Bronzer - If you prefer the tanned, bronzed look then contour those cheeks and your temples to look amazing. I think that matt bronzers are much better than shimmer ones as it doesn't make you look mucky and is easier to pile on the colour.
Blusher - Bourjous for me own it, when it comes to blushes. And these cream blushes are great as they last a lot longer and you can apply as little or as much as you want depending on your preferred look.Blushes come in so many different colours and shades.
Mascara - I haven't added much eye makeup for this festive look as the lips are very bold, so you want your lips to be the centre of attention not your heavy eyes. Of course you can add neutral eye shadows if you want and some eyeliner, but I like a good coat of mascara to seal the deal and this one from Rimmel really gives you volume.
Nail Polish - I love matching my nails to my makeup/outfit and this Raspberry colour from BarryM is perfect as it only really requires one coat and you are good to go in a rush. The colour is beautiful and perfect for this festive season. And BarryM are so affordable as well.
Lipgloss - This lipgloss from Revlon is what I based this whole look around, if you pick one bold bright lip colour then work the rest of your face around it not the other way round. Even those these are very sheer, you can build it up with a lip liner, lipstick or even just the gloss on its own.
