I have stalked the Superdrug website for months waiting for the famous ELF Poreless Putty Primer to come back into stock, it wasn't until a random pop into the shop a while back that I managed to find it. It was the last one on the stand too! It was meant to be and I couldn't wait to start using it. For reference, my skin is oily - it can be fine one minute and then shiny and greasy to the heavens. I love wearing a primer under my makeup, sandwiched with a setting spray and foundation, a primer helps my skin stay matte and as shine free as possible. I could not wait to start using this hyped up primer....
This skin perfecting poreless putty primer is infused with Squalane to help grip makeup for all-day wear and help protect skin from moisture loss. The velvety texture glides effortlessly over the skin, smoothing over imperfections while helping minimize the appearance of pores for a poreless effect. There are now 3 primers in the range...
- – Perfect for those who want a shine-free matte complexion.
- Poreless Putty Primer- Perfect for those who want a poreless, flawless finish.
- – Perfect for those who want a radiant, glowing complexion.
The first thing I noticed about the primer was the texture. The texture of the product is pretty uncommon for a primer that I am used to. I use primers that are sprays or have a sticky texture. This is the first of its kind for me.
The texture of the primer is fun and interesting, it seems thick but sort of just melts when warmed up between the fingers and on the skin.
In case you were wondering… while the primer makes your skin look amazing and blurred, it also leaves a slight whiteish cast on your skin which means you can't wear it alone. The cast might does fade when really rubbed into the skin, but it does not completely disappear.
Does it work?
In short, YES. If you have oily skin and struggle with keeping your makeup on all day then you need this primer. I can't speak for dry skin types or normal but oily or even combination - you will love this. I've tried this under several different foundations just to make sure it really works and I am so impressed. It not only gives me a smooth base, but it evens out texture, minimises pores and helps with the longevity of my makeup. My only issue with it, is the smell. I am not a fan, there's something funny about it. I've been watching and reading reviews and not many people seem to mention the smell, so I wonder if I've picked up a dud one by accident...but I can put the smell to one side because the results and effect of this primer is incredible.
Have you tried this primer? Are you a fan of primer?
