For the whole of January, I went on a no buy. Meaning no purchasing of makeup and skincare products - it was hard but I did it. Since then I've not been as good. I have an obsession with buying clothes - ASOS is my best friend and have been buying random bits of makeup from here and there. I plan to start more of a low buy from next month, and only buy the essentials when I run out. My aim is to save as much as I can this year, and buying all the new launches, just because everyone else has, needs to stop. I get myself tangled in a web of no money and its just not worth it.
This post, is a haul of some things I have 'treated' myself to recently, all essentials of course!
Colourpop Buys// I saw that Cally over on twitter was actually selling these in a blog sale and couldn't help myself. I've wanted to make a CP order for so long, but my basket is coming to like $200 which is just ridiculous. So, when I saw she was selling the WYD matte lip and a gloss it just had to be mine. They came in the box, unopened and are so beautiful. They have some of the best lip products that are such good quality, but the cost of getting them over here is just not worth it. I wish they were easy to get a hold of!
Both of these are a match made in heaven. A very brown nude combo that looks perfect for everyday, it doesn't budge and lasts all day.
Cult Beauty// CB is such a dangerous site! The more brands they start stocking, the more money I seem to be wasting. Siobhán had a code on offer not that long ago and I took full advantage of it. I picked up the Huda Beauty New Nude Palette (£56), which was a definite splurge. None of her other palettes really caught my attention but this was had my heart, the pinks, purples and glitters are just gorgeous. I can see myself getting so much use out of it when wedding season comes around as well as weekend plans - its just so pretty.
As spring is just around the corner, I really want to get into wearing blush. Its always been a challenge for me to find the right balance between bronzer, highlight and blush but this year with the right products I will crack it. This Morphe Blush Trio seemed like the perfect place to start. The three shades are well suited to my skin tone and not too out there, they are SUPER pigmented though, so I need to be careful with how much I apply and what with.
I have gone back in time and fallen in love with lip gloss. For work, it looks super chic and even though it doesn't last very long paired with a liquid lipstick, it looks so good. This ABH Gloss in Caramel (£17) is just stunning. Its a very pink pink but when layered with other products its just a stunning, neutral gloss. Loveeee.
Anne blogged about The Inkey List not that long ago, and the brand really intrigued me. Its very similar to The Ordinary, low cost yet effective. The thing that I went with was the Salicylic Acid Cleanser (£10.99) as someone who suffers with breakout prone skin, this was has been the best addition to my routine. I use it every other day just in problem areas (chin and forehead) to get the spots to come to the surface and kill the active ones. Its incredible for the price and I can't wait to get my hands on more of the brand.
USC// I stumbled upon this site the other week on my hunt for some new jeans - I want some embellished ones but can't seem to find black ones anywhere! Whilst browsing the site, I noticed that they had a beauty section and a very well stocked section too. There are brands on their such as Sport FX, DHC, NYX, OUAI, PIXI and the one that I grabbed was Cover FX. A brand that I've heard a lot of people rave about and seeing the discount on these two products and so many others, I couldn't resist! The first thing I picked up was the Power Play foundation (currently testing and loving!!!), at just £19 instead of £38. Then the drops in Rose Gold for just £17 instead of £34. Both of these products are well loved and popular in the beauty world and at these prices how can you not pick them up. There's so much more from Cover FX that I want to pick up such as the brushes, setting spray and even the primers. The list of what you can find on this site is endless, worth a look!
ASOS// My very latest purchase is from MAC. A new lipstick is the best sort of present to myself after a hard week and experiencing something rather stressful at work - this was well needed. Soar lip liner from MAC is my holy grail liner, it looks so good with any lip product on top or even sometimes by itself. Recently on a browse through ASOS, I spotted they had launched some new lipsticks and one of them was in the matching lip liner shade! I pressed add to my basket so quickly that it arrived to my house within days and I have fallen in love. Its the perfect brown, pink nude for my skin tone and looks gorgeoussss.
Looking back, I seemed to have spent quite a bit. But... all worth it of course! <3
