Welcome to my Spring Trilogy series! This year for each season I thought it would be fun to share my favourite skincare, makeup and fashion products in a weekly series themed post. I love the way the seasons make us change our everyday habits and these posts are almost a way of sharing my favourites and must haves for the changes in seasons. Kicking things off today with skincare, my routine it becoming a lot more focused on removing dry skin and combating oil at the moment rather than controlling breakouts. It has meant that my entire routine has had a shift around and new products have come into the mix.
My skin is prone to oil and the biggest issue I have going into spring and then summer is controlling this on hot days, I think the best way to help combat this problem is using a skincare product to help control it rather than constantly powdering and caking my face up. The Gatineau Clear and Perfect Sebo-regulating Serum (£52)* has been doing just that to for my skin. The first thing you notice about the serum is the colour, its green, but once applied to the skin it is clear and no colour transfers on to the skin. It is a very thick serum, so a little goes a long way. I have been using this day and night before my moisturiser to help control shine and minimise pores. I started by using this only on my forehead as this is a common problem area, but now have amped up to using it all over the face, it is working wonders and in the sun spells we had last week my skin was not as oily as it usually is when the weather gets warmer.
Breakouts at the moment are very minimal and its all thanks to the Cosrx Whitehead Power Liquid, this stuff is life changing or should I say skin changing. It is an AHA that unclogs pores, whilst removing the top layer of skin that causes my face to break out. It really cleans and gets into the deep tissue and works in just a matter of days. I use this whenever I feel a spot coming or if I've had a day of naughty eating as it helps to fight anything that might be there the next morning. It is also great to use when a spot pops, as it helps stop it from scarring and leaving a mark.
When it comes to skincare, my body skin is just as important as my face but sometimes gets very neglected. As spring comes around and the arms and legs start to make an appearance its important to me that my skin looks somewhat hydrated and healthy. I suffer with eczema and in the heat get allergic reactions on my skin that results in redness and a lot of itching. If there is one thing I can count on its Palmer's Cocoa Butter*. This stuff is the best at helping to soften and soothe my skin. I use the 24 hour moisture cream as a facial moisturiser, along with something else from Palmer's that will be mentioned in the makeup part of this series. The tub version of the moisture cream stays with me in my handbag as an almost 'top up cream' for throughout the day when I feel like my skin needs an extra oomph. Then the smoothing lotion is what I love to lather my body in, paying particular attention to elbows and knees. Not only do these smell amazing but my skin is left feeling soft and quite glowy too as cocoa butter is incredible at hydrating and nourishing the skin.
As I've mentioned, dry skin is my enemy at the moment. I just can't seem to shift the dryness I am experiencing. Sheet masks have been a life saver for some instant relief and using them on a weekly basis has become a bit of a tradition, not going to lie some of the looks people give you when you wear these are frightening! This is one that I picked up in Topshop, believe it or not and has cooling properties - it is great to use in the morning when my skin is a bit puffy and dry as it adds an instant boost. Every other day I have been using the Gatineau Peeling Expert* (£41) to peel away dead skin and reveal a healthy looking layer of skin. For an exfoliator this feels so nice to use on the skin. It is blended with Vitamin E and F that just makes my skin feel so bloody soft. I love that it removes dead skin as my makeup applies so much better and after the first few uses I saw that my skin looked so much more clear. It doesn't have the best smell and the formula is a little on the watery side for me but it works a treat, and even my sensitive skin has taken a liken to it!
Hope you enjoyed my skincare picks for the Spring! What are yours?
Next week we'll be talking makeup :)
