With this awful cold weather hitting the UK this past week, my skin has never been so dry so flaky. I have been using nothing but these select few products to help calm and soothe the dryness and they have made the biggest difference. I just hope that I don't have to keep this routine up because I need sunshine, spring and pretty blue skies!
I have to be very careful with exfoliaters as some are too harsh, this Proto-col Microdermabrasion (£11.95) is actually a cream that exfoliates the skin without having to scrub a dub dub. It has a blend of crushed pearls, diamonds and glycolic acid that helps to lift away any dead skin cells. It also contains jojoba oil, which softens and moisturises the skin. I have been using this every other night for the past few weeks and my skin loves it. It has helped keep the peeling dry skin at bay even with this horrible cold weather. It claims to also help reduce the appearance of fine lines, but this isn't something that I can comment on as I don't have any but I think that it would work well as it contains plant collagen. My skin looks healthy and nice for once in its life!
The Moisturiser.
There is no way in hell that I would be able to survive this Arctic weather without a moisturiser, I know people who don't use one because they hate the feeling of it on their skin. How? Just how. This one from Anitpodes (full review) is a firm favourite of mine and very well loved if you can't tell. I use it every morning before my makeup application and it sits so well underneath everything, doesn't feel greasy and nourishes my skin. I also love how it smells - so fresh!
The Oil.
Products from Botanics have never let me down, in fact they are quickly become a brand that I own everything from. A facial oil is the perfect way to add some love back into your skin, dry skin is instantly gone when you use an oil because it sinks deep into the skin. This one smells incredible and feels so good on the skin, it takes a while to absorb but I guess this is just because it is doing its magic. A side note, even if you have oily skin you can use an oil - it works so much better than a moisturiser would in my humble opinion. I want to try this mixed in with a foundation to see how glowy it makes me look.
The Lip Saviour.
Nishi very kindly gifted me this for christmas and it has never come more in handy than it has this week. I tried the lip mask years ago from Laneige and forgot just how good it was, you apply a thick layer at night, leave it and then wipe off in the morning. I have never had lips softer or more plump in my life. It also has a cute applicator that makes it so much more fun to apply!
The Spritz.
I never really got the fuss around facial mists/sprays ect but the Caudalie spray is a life changer. I have been keeping it buy my bedside to spray right before I go to sleep and as soon as I wake up. It gives my skin an instant boost of hydration and makes it feel so good in just a flash.
How do you battle/cope dry skin?
