Happy December!! What an exciting time of year and month for all things festive, expensive and of course party. It is now the time of year for christmas parties, get togethers and all other sorts of celebrations. I am having four christmas party type of events this month and then the work christmas do next month, it sounds daft to have it in January but Decemeber is so busy for everyone! This post is for those who have a event straight after finishing work or univeristy and have to dash straight into some party wear and look half decent. I have put together a very easy makeup look and hair do that means you can take it from day to night with the help of a few products and handbag heroes. I am all about being lazy and taking shortcuts so if this sounds like you... let's get going 💗
Before
Before any big do, you want to have everything planned and ready to excute. This means, knowing what clothes, shoes, jewelerry and makeup look you are going for. Also the perfect time to match nails to the look, never leave this last minute. I have gone for a gorgeous cherry red from Benecos*, it is a 100% natural polish that lasts for so long on the nails without damaging them.
During the Day
The morning of the big office party, you need to either apply a long lasting, full coverage base or take everything with you to do then. I always reach for the Fenty primer and foundation when I want full coverage, it covers everything and I know that no matter what it will last me all day and night. Keep a bag full of everything you need ready to change it up in the evening. I have fallen back in love with the Maybelline Bricks Bronzer Palette, the bronzer is the perfect shade tot warm my skin up in the winter without being too heavy. I also opted for a liquid highlighter this morning to keep the glow through the day. Then setting it all with Urban Decay's All Nighter, this is my second bottle - holy grail, couldn't live without it!
Changing in the Evening
This is where the day look becomes more appropraite for the night time. What I have on as a base, could be pretty good - the Tarte concealer would be with me at all times to cover any blemishes that start to seep through and under eye bags that just won't go away. It applies on top of set makeup really well and doesn't wear away. Having more highlighter in the evening is a MUST, this Primark palette is my go to at the moment but any palette or single that you can carry around is perfect. The more glow the better. Its then time to focus on the eyes, for me this is always something that I pay more attention to in the evening, not much of an everyday shadow wearer. Starting with the brand new, ever so gorgeous Aphrodite Palette from GWA*. It contains some gorgeous pink, mauve, gold and brown shades that all come encased in a white luxury case with a mirror and rose gold detailing. I am obsessed with the top row, so many looks you can create and with little time on my hands, shadows that are pigmented and easy to apply like ones from GWA are perfect. The Stila glitters have taken the beauty world by storm, having just one of these for the night time will be more than enough to make your eyes pop. For lips it has to be a red, if not at this time of year then when?! I love this Poppy Red shade is so not my usual red lip but perfect for christmas. It has a very warm orange undertone, making it more of a warmer red but packed full of olive oil and avocado oil to keep the lips hydrated and noursihed. It bleeds a little around the lip, so a liner might be a good choice next time around.
HAIR
Now onto hair, I am so boring when it comes to doing something with my hair, the more simple and easy is better for me. At the moment, I have been loving the InStyler Max (£89.99). It is the weirdest looking beauty tool but works a treat for when you need something quick and to take on the go. There are two barrels attached to it, one to curl and the other to straighten but both are used at the same time and one rotates. With 4 different heat settings, salon like hair can be achieved at home. I have very thick, straight with flicked out ends hair and this tool works a treat. I have used it in the above picture on the left and not right to show you the difference, it took me no more than 5 minutes to straighten it all. As you straighten with the brush side it helps to detangle and smooth out the hair without removing volume and shine. I have also used it to curl but that will be in a upcoming post next week. There are so many different styles that can be done with this tool and the fact that it works quickly means that taking it with you to work and doing it a lunch would mean your hair is ready for the evening!
I am so happy with how the final look came out and to test it to the max, I did all these tips on a day whislt in work, to see how it will go! I think this is going to be my makeup for Christmas day too!
Are you a fan of red lips at this time of year?
